The County Board of Supervisors on 6/1 made quick work of determining where and how CREF funds—capital paid to the county to help offset harmful impacts of offshore oil and gas drilling projects—would be allocated this year. After going with the staff’s proposal to defer acquisition recommendation and allocation until 9/7, the supes divvied up the $695,198.88 in general allocation monies as follows: $191,000 to the Wildcare Network’s seabird care facility; $20,000 for the Rincon Creek Arundo Removal Project; $6,888.88 for improvements to Santa Claus Lane; $68,791 to the Summerland Plan; $40,000 for Shoreline Park improvements; $280,710 for the Gaviota Coast Plan; and $12,300 to the Santa Maria’s Museum of Natural History seabird exhibit.
