I was the master of ceremonies at this event [“David Horowitz Speaks at Tea Party Event” 4/16/10] and can tell you that the individual who wrote about it mischaracterized David Horowitz’s presentation. What David said was that the political left operates by different rules than conservatives and, indeed, the rest of America. He argued that leftists act as if they have attended “Commie Camp,” because of the similarities between the left and communists. He did not say that they had done so, contrary to the writer’s depiction.
David explained that he formerly was a leftist and that his parents were Communists and that such a background enabled him to speak from first-hand knowledge. His presentation was, obviously, highly critical of Obama and provided detail on why he believed Obama was a leftist to his core. Speeches were not closed with a prayer, and David did not support the use of marijuana. In fact, he commented about the dangerous influence of drugs and how marijuana use could adversely contribute to a culture of heightened drug usage in America. In short, this article illustrates how events can be distorted by so-called journalists with their own agenda. — Ward Connerly
