Because of the increased usage of county-supplied psychiatric beds in the first part of 2010, the Board of Supervisors on 4/13 unanimously approved a contract amendment with Ventura-based Aurora Vista del Mar Hospital for $510,000 in additional funding to continue to provide acute hospital services for people with severe mental illness. While the number of beds the county contracts with Vista del Mar for has been up for debate, mental health officials say the number is steady at around five beds.
