Featuring 90-plus pages of detailed information about history, plants, wildlife, and more, the “More Mesa Handbook”—a guide to the popular coastal bluff-top hiking area in eastern Goleta—was recently named the best public education program in the state by the Association of Environmental Professionals. The document, which was published in December 2008 and also won two awards from the American Planning Association in 2009, has been presented to all public and planning officials who might ever have to make a decision on what will become of the currently unprotected and privately owned, but publicly used, landscape.
