The winter season brings the return of Cachuma Lake Recreation Center’s (Hwy. 154, Santa Ynez) Eagle Cruise, a two-hour tour aboard the Osprey, the park’s passenger pontoon boat. Naturalists guide passengers through Cachuma’s many natural thriving habitats, home to a plethora of wildlife, birds, trees, fish, and plants. Head up to the lake before February to see migratory bald eagles, waterfowl, and other natural wonders from the aboard the vessel’s viewing platform. Eagle Cruises set sail at 10 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday every week until February, with additional cruises departing Fridays and Saturdays at 2 p.m. (note: the lake is closed on Christmas Day).
