The annual Westmont President’s Breakfast continues to pull in big names, with an announcement Tuesday that former president of Mexico Vicente Fox will be the speaker at the fifth annual event in February.

Fox will be speaking on “The Future of the Americas: Immigration, Globalization and Free Trade” when he comes to town, in the Grand Ballroom of Fess Parker’s Doubletree Resort on February 19 at 7 a.m. Tickets to the annual event, which usually sells out quickly, are $75 a person and will be sold online starting January 19 at 8 a.m. at www.westmont.edu/presbreakfast.

Former Mexican President Vicente Fox

Fox rose from his position as a route supervisor for Coca-Cola in Mexico to president of Coca-Cola in Mexico. From there he entered politics, eventually becoming a Guanajuato state mayor in 1995 and president of Mexico in 2000, ending the 71-year reign of the Institutional Revolutionary Party in Mexico. He served one six-year term as Mexico’s president, after which he founded the Vicente Fox Center of Studies, Library and Museum.

Past speakers at the breakfast include CNN host Fareed Zakaria, New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, and American historian, best-selling author, and two-time Pulitzer Prize-winner David McCullough.
