Work began this week on the new Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital, a $105-million project designed to meet current seismic requirements and expand the hospital into a 152,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility. The original building, first opened in 1964, will remain in use while construction continues for the next two years.

The doctor is in. Steven Linn, MD, MPH, will take over as vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer for Cottage Health System, it was announced this week. Dr. Linn previously served as chief medical officer at South Jersey Healthcare in Vineland, New Jersey. Officials stated that Linn was chosen by a search committee, which included medical staff officers, board physicians, and Cottage Medical Advisory members, after an extensive, nationwide search.
