I would like to express how much I enjoyed 1st Thursday this month. Last night I heard Quire of Voyces singing the most beautiful, uplifting Renaissance music, whose streams of golden a capella would soften the heart of even the most hardened scrooge. They performed in the Santa Barbara Museum of Art from the level above the entrance court, overlooking the Greco-Roman marble statues below (Ludington Court). I thought this to be a wonderful use of a space, with such great acoustics, and I would highly support the idea that the museum hold concerts there more often, except that seating among the antiquities is scarce and sitting on a cold floor is, frankly, a good way to get piles. Thankfully it was brief enough for a short stand and listen while also appreciating the musculature of Hermes. – Lorien Crawford
