This group of young musicians breathes new life into the traditional banjo and fiddle music of the Carolinas. Their music makes you want to square dance and eat barbeque ribs (and I don’t even eat meat). They are quirky and fun and cool. These incredibly talented artists present themselves without stage props, dancers, or special lighting; they are purely themselves and truly passionate about what they do. And you get to know them, throughout the show, and more importantly you want to get to know them. With songs like Two Timing and Dixie, I found myself appreciating music I may not have ever given any thought to before. The Chocolate Drops are performers-they make you laugh and dance in the isles, they make you want to sing along to songs you’ve never heard of! They’re music is interactive and unifying, it takes hold of traditional American rhythm and wraps its audience up in it. Keep your eyes peeled for their return-this is a show you won’t want to miss.
