Why not expose the elder abuse problems? They are rampant, hidden and unpublicized. Crimes against elders don’t make the news because in many instances the perpetrator is a “friend,” a “helper,” a relative, or even an attorney and the victim is either ashamed to have been taken advantage of or they fear that the person will abandon them, or they simply don’t realize that they have been victimized.
Financial abuse and undue influence are far more common than physical abuse. Those who are taken advantage of are sometimes left without funds to take care of themselves. Big problem nationwide and growing, yet who is paying attention? Get on it guys!Katherine Yeomans
