On Saturday, the S.B. Mountain Bike Trail Volunteers is inviting grown-up Santa Barbarans to help show a kid how to enjoy nature on a bicycle during the National Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day event, to be hosted at S.B.’s picture-perfect Elings Park (Cliff Dr. entrance). It’s an S.B. version of the International Mountain Bicycling Association’s adult+child biking festivities being held nationwide, and both you and your kid are sure to enjoy the simple pleasure of cruising through nature on two wheels. Riders will be separated into skill/ability groups; no child – or adult-will be left behind.
SBMBTV’s List of Items to Bring:
• Your bicycle-riding daughter or son between ages 7-15. (Nieces, nephews, younger siblings, neighbors, and friends welcome, too.)
• A helmet for each rider (no exceptions will be made for adults or kids).
• Mountain bikes in working condition, with properly inflated tires (minor tuning available on-site).
• Sunscreen, a snack, and portable drinking water.
National Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day will be held Saturday, October 3, from noon-3 p.m. Riders should meet at the Cliff Drive entrance of Elings Park. The event is free; call 455-7208 for more info.
