Although troops are pulling out of Iraq, unfortunately there’s still plenty of fighting-and dying-going on in Afghanistan. To commemorate fallen U.S. soldiers, Veterans for Peace will place crosses on the beach-one for each death. Already, there have been more than 700 soldiers killed in this war, termed Operation Enduring Freedom, which began in October 2001. The Arlington West Afghanistan War Memorial will be set up each Sunday, from 7-9 a.m., on the sand by Stearns Wharf, and taken down that same day at 4 p.m. Volunteers are encouraged to come help.
