The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department issued a press release warning residents of inland regions to take precautions to avoid heat-related health problems.
However, according to The Weather Channel, temperatures in the inland city of Santa Ynez is expected to reach 85 degrees on Saturday, seven degrees below the average high for July 18. The Weather Channel does predict 49-percent maximum humidity over the weekend.
For those who are most vulnerable to hot, muggy weather-specifically seniors, infants, and those with certain medical conditions-officials recommend relaxing in air-conditioned areas and drinking large amounts of non-alcoholic beverages, such as water; wearing light-colored and lightweight clothing; and taking multiple cool showers or baths.
