Matt Sanchez, executive director of gang intervention program AllforOne, issued a public apology for the chalk drawing inadvertently sponsored by his organization at this year’s I Madonnari chalk painting festival. Though the person depicted, Jesus Malverde, enjoys a Robin Hood-like reputation in certain circles, his association with the drug trade made his festival appearance controversial. When Sanchez was notified that Malverde was the subject of AllforOne’s entry, he had the caption changed to ask whether the depicted man was Malverde or movie star Pedro Infante.
