In order to thank the firefighters who have helped protect the county from its plague of wildfires, the Conference & Visitors Bureau has set up a program that offers these emergency workers discounts rates at hotels, restaurants, and other attractions throughout the county. Through 12/31, firefighters need only identify themselves as such and mention the discount to take advantage. Participating locations are listed at independent.com/thanks.
