In a closed session on 5/19, the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously not to appeal a decision in Santa Barbara Superior Court invalidating their approval of the controversial Ballentyne residence near the eastern gate of the Gaviota Coast. Early last month, Judge Thomas Anderle ruled that the supervisors’ 2008 approval of the 15,000-square foot home not only violated the County’s General Plan but also required a full environmental review before such a vote could be taken. It remains to be seen if the Ballentynes will now appeal Anderle’s ruling.
