With the Jesusita Fire now 90 percent contained, all evacuation orders and warnings were lifted as of noon on Thursday, May 14, and the county’s Jesusita Fire call center – at (805) 581-5197 – which has been providing information on evacuations and addresses of homes destroyed, is scheduled to begin operations at about 8 p.m. this evening.
A local assistance center (LAC), which aims to help those whose homes were lost or who were otherwise impacted by the fire, will open on Monday morning, May 18, in the lobby of the Santa Barbara County Administration Building at 105 E. Anapamu Street. The county has requested various government agencies and nonprofits to participate, including the California Department of Insurance and the Internal Revenue Service. The LAC will operate from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. every weekday until further notice, at 105 E. Anapamu.
On Monday evening, at 6:30 p.m., a Jesusita Fire Recovery Meeting convenes on the fourth floor of the administration building, where debris removal and other recovery issues will be addressed. The meeting will be broadcast on SBTV Channel 20.
