The National Geographic Society wants students to get out and explore. This summer, the society is leading guided trips to some of the world’s most amazing locations. During the course of these expeditions, high school students can discover challenging academic projects. These “On Assignment” projects include photography, conservation, cultural studies, conservation, filmmaking, journalism, archeology, and global studies. All are offered in exotic surroundings-places like Belize, Tanzania, the Yucatan peninsula, China, and Rome. Whether they are photographing giraffes or taking water samples from the Amazon River, students have the opportunity to be captivated and inspired by nature. The expeditions focus on total immersion into the landscape; students are encouraged to create their own personal stories through teamwork and experience.
