You get to put your money where your stomach and taste buds are this Earth Day season by attending a special April 18 event billed Organics for Earth Day at Westside Cellar (222 E. Main St., Ventura; 641-3500, westsidecellar.com). There’s a wine tasting and cheese plate portion of the program, where all the wines are organic, local (you can’t get more Earth Day than that), and chosen/donated by Mark Hartley of Watermark on Main. There’s a special multicourse dinner with wine pairing for those wanting more, not to mention a live auction for those wanting to donate more. All the proceeds go to the Surfrider Foundation, which has been helping preserve access to and maintain the pristine nature of our beaches for decades now. This interesting confab, sponsored by Tangerenz Salon and Aveda, is sure to make you feel festive about old Mother Nature, and afterward, you’ll know the right wines to keep up the fest year-round. And if going to Ventura during Earth Day season seems to violate the whole day’s idea, just be sure to carpool with plenty of friends. For more information, call 648-5564 or email tangerenz@sbcglobal.net.
