At the request of the defense, the trial for Jesse James Hollywood has been pushed back to mid-April.
A day after turning 28 years old, the man accused of being the mastermind behind the 2000 murder of 15-year-old Nick Markowitz appeared before Judge Brian Hill Thursday.
Hollywood’s trial was slated to start mid-February, but will instead be continued to April 27. Pretrial motions, of which there are plenty, on the admissibility of evidence are scheduled to begin April 9.
All the other suspects in the case have been convicted of their crimes or pled, including Ryan Hoyt, who sits on death row in state prison for firing the gun that killed Markowitz. But Hollywood escaped and spent several years on the lam, before being caught in Brazil in 2005.
Hollywood’s trial is expected to last two to four months.
