• Hospice of Santa Barbara is beginning to register much-needed volunteers for its I Have a Friend program, a mentorship undertaking for adults who suffered the loss of a parent or sibling as a child. Volunteers are trained and matched with children who have recently suffered a similar loss, providing emotional support and understanding to young people experiencing intense grief. • The Santa Barbara-based Dog Adoption & Welfare Group (DAWG), a no-kill agency that provides shelter and care to hundreds of homeless dogs every year, is always in need of volunteers and animal supply donations from the public. Currently on the dogs’ wish lists are blankets, towels, dog beds, grooming supplies, treats, toys, leashes, and gift certificates to Costco and Smart & Final, where the organization purchases its cleaning supplies and pet food.
