UCSB will introduce its men’s and women’s basketball teams at a public event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today (Thu., Nov. 6) at the Cabrillo Arts Pavilion. The affair will include a press conference, interaction with the coaches and players, free food, and ticket-purchasing opportunities.
The Gaucho women launched their season and the head coaching career of Lindsay Gottlieb with a 65-48 exhibition victory over Westmont College on Wednesday night before 923 fans at the Thunderdome. Senior center Kat Suderman had 15 points and five rebounds, and senior guard Lauren Pederson contributed 11 points and seven assists.
Junior guard Jessica Case scored 11 points for Westmont, which led 30-29 at halftime. Amber Stevens added 10 points and six assists.
UCSB’s men will host Cal State Dominguez Hills in their exhibition opener Saturday night.
The Gaucho women will return to action against another NAIA team, Vanguard, on Tuesday (Nov. 11) at 7 p.m. All military personnel and veterans will receive two free tickets with military ID in observance of Veteran’s Day.
The Westmont women will play their home opener at Murchison Gym at 5:30 p.m. Friday against William Jessup College.
