Locals and out-of-towners will be on the lookout for Spanish-themed festivities and specials over the upcoming 84th Annual Old Spanish Days Fiesta, which officially runs from July 30-August 3. Restaurants inspired by Spanish and Latin American cooking will be putting their best foot forward to attract traffic, including the relatively new State Street eatery Matador. .
Matador Restaurant (714 State Street, 965-1307, sbmatador.com) will introduce a happy hour just in time for Fiesta festivities. Monday through Friday, from 5 to 7 p.m., you can graze on three tapas for $15, sip $3 Sangria (or discounted pitchers), and enjoy $3 beers. Going beyond a standard happy hour and into the weeks beyond Fiesta, Tapas Tuesdays and Sangria Sundays will respectively offer three tapas for $15 and half-price Sangria from open until close.
The Fiesta celebration at Matador kicks off on Thursday with live Flamenco dancers and Flamenco guitar from 8-11 p.m. The dancers will rhythmically move their hips and the guitars will be strummed for another performance on Saturday night.
