On Saturday, July 19, the Wildling Art Museum will host a Botanical Illustration Workshop at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church (2901 Nojoqui St., Los Olivos) in concurrence with its ongoing Endangered Species: Flora & Fauna in Peril exhibit. The International Songwriting Competition is now accepting entries for the 2008 go around. More than $150,000 will be awarded in cash and prizes to winners in categories ranging from country to R&B/hip-hop to music video. THE SOUNDS OF SUMMER
Starting next Thursday, July 10, ensembles from the Music Academy of the West will be performing free, 45-minute concerts at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art (1130 State St.). The shows will take place at 2 p.m. every Thursday through August 14.
