Where: 831 Santa Barbara Street, 805-966-3894, ourdailybread.net
What: Since 1981, Our Daily Bread has been serving up fresh baked breads and sweets, opening each morning Monday through Friday at 6 a.m.
How much? Pastries run from $2-$3, small rolls are 40-50•, and loaves of bread range from $2.50 to $5.50. A full breakfast or lunch ranges from $5-$10.
The dish: “Nothing says loving like something from the oven,” as the old saying goes. If this is true, for more than 25 years the team at Our Daily Bread has been bestowing kisses all over Santa Barbara. This hot spot has a choice for everyone: sweet or savory, soft or crisp, white or wheat. If you have a couple minutes before running off to work, stop by the bakery to enjoy a blueberry or cinnamon scone. More than a few minutes to spare? A piping cup of Joe and a tasty breakfast sandwich with poached eggs and turkey bacon will start off your morning right. And don’t forget to pick up a crusty sourdough loaf to enjoy later with dinner. All of their delicious lunchtime sandwiches are served on their fresh baked breads. My vote is for the Chopped Cobb sandwich.
