The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Office of Marine Sanctuaries will be giving away $100,000 in grants to “Ocean Guardians” from kindergarten to high school groups that create community-based conservation projects that help to protect local watersheds and the ocean. If your school’s project wins, the school will receive anywhere from $2,000 to $6,000 to implement the conservation project and a plaque designating the school as an Ocean Guardian. Get together with your friends and make plans to plant a school garden or initiate a new recycling program for the neighborhood, or come up with a fun way to educate others about water quality issues!
