• The Housing Authority of the City of S.B. helps low-income families, senior citizens, and disabled or handicapped people with income tax preparation in English and in Spanish. The city’s tax tutors are at the Family Opportunity Center (526 W. Montecito St.) and Paseo Voluntario Learning Center (309 S. Voluntario St.), both open Monday-Thursday, 5-8 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. through April 15. Appointments are encouraged, so call 965-1071 for more information.
• The Fighting Back Mentor Program is looking for adults to volunteer an hour a week with a child in fourth through eighth grade at local elementary and middle schools.
