Raytheon Company’s Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) division, with facilities in Goleta and elsewhere, has named W. Timothy Carey vice president for its Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems (ISR) group. IRS produces and supports “a vast array” of electro-optical and infrared sensors and radars, according to Raytheon’s January 24 announcement of the appointment. These are used for “strike, persistent surveillance and special missions,” the statement said. Carey succeeds Michael Proch, who is retiring from Raytheon after 34 years, and will report to Jon Jones, president of SAS, which is headquartered in El Segundo, California and reported $4.3 billion in 2006 revenues. Carey, who joined Raytheon in 1978, will be responsible for IRS business operations and “strategic directions,” Jones said, “leading a critical core market component of SAS as we leverage our recent sensor business success.”
