California voters like Governor Schwarzenegger’s new health care overhaul bill by a 3-to-1 margin, according to a Field Poll released 12/21. Taken from a sample of 1,283 registered voters in mid December, the poll found 64 percent favor bill ABX1 1, which would cover roughly 3.6 million currently uninsured Californians. If approved by the State Senate, its funding mechanisms-including a cigarette tax hike and employer fees varying according to business size-would be subject to voter approval in November.
