The Associated Press reported this morning that a 70-year-old sailor was rescued from Santa Cruz Island early on the morning of Friday, Dec. 21. According to the report, the man apparently lost power on his 50-foot yacht, which then ran aground on the island. He then drifted alone until being spot by the Coast Guard around 3 a.m. The man was treated for mild hypothermia. His yacht was destroyed as a result of the accient.
