Goleta seeks a $259,000 state bicycle transportation grant for a traffic signal at the intersection of Fairview Avenue and Berkeley Road, along with a “bicycle boulevard” along Berkeley Road and Covington Way in northern Goleta. The Class III lane-meaning it is shared with cars-runs from Los Carneros Road to Merida Road. The grant, plus a 12 percent match from the City, would also make it easier for bikers to exit the bridge over San Jose Creek, back onto Berkeley Road.
