Judge Denies Delay for Start of News-Press Lawsuit
On 12/11, U.S. District Court Judge Edward Rafeedie denied an attempt by the News-Press to delay the start of its copyright infringement case against The Independent. The daily wanted to move back the planned 1/29 start of the jury trial to late March, so-among other reasons-it would have more time to compel The Indy’s Nick Welsh to divulge his confidential sources, which are usually held sacrosanct in the profession of journalism.
