Fess Parker’s DoubleTree Resort has broken ground on a second waterfront hotel next door, clearing the vacant lot just west of Calle Cesar Ch¡vez to make way for 150 luxury rooms on 3.4 acres, costing an estimated $90 million. As a condition of development, the Parker family will also fund construction of a $5-million, 100-bed youth hostel on land it is donating at 12 E. Montecito Street.
