For California Archeology Month, the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History (2559 Puesta Del Sol) hosts four free lectures led by experts on Chumash history. On Tuesday, October 16, Dr. John Johnson, Dr. Tom Stafford, and Amy Gusick will discuss the early colonization of North America. Following the lecture, Dustin McKenzie will lead a talk on human adaptation and environmental change. On Tuesday, October 23, Dr. Jennifer Perry will discuss the development of Chumash villages, farming, and other technological advances. Afterward, Dr. John Johnson will offer up his thoughts and theories on the arrival and impact of Spanish missionaries to California.
