Craig McCaw Buys $20 Million Beachfront Property

Craig McCaw, the ex-husband of News-Press owner Wendy McCaw and Nextel founder, has purchased 60 acres of beachfront land adjacent to the Bacara Resort for $20 million. The property has been owned by the family of Louis Parsons since 1883, but was never extensively developed. The land-which includes a scenic beach-is zoned to allow two units, though McCaw is reportedly only interested in building one home and has indirectly contacted some area environmentalists to discuss how the property can be developed sustainably.
