Giant Salmon Swims Into SB
Sends Off State Street Fish Sculptures
Fin, a 25-foot Steelhead salmon, swims into town this Thursday, July 12. The Community Environmental Council teamed up with the national association Save Our Wild Salmon to educate Santa Barbara about the steelhead’s endangered status. Fin’s arrival will mark the leave of the collection of brightly painted salmon that currently live on State St. and their subsequent auction, happening August 17 at the Watershed Resource Center at Arroyo Burro Beach.
Fin is on a road trip throughout the West Coast to spread awareness of the plight of the Steelhead’s watershed and other species that rely on it. See Fin and his relations off at the courtyard of Paseo Nuevo 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
For more information on Fin or the auction, contact the CEC’s Suzanne Feldman at sfeldman@cecmail.org or call 963-0583 x116.
