At 93, Arleigh Adams occupies a unique place in Santa Barbara
history — literally. From 1912 to 1920, his home on Mission and
Chapala streets, where he has resided for 70 years, housed Santa
Barbara’s claim to cinematic fame: the pre-Hollywood Flying A movie
studios. And now, though he lives alone as the last surviving
member of his immediate family, Adams has no shortage of visitors.
Curious passersby often stop in to tour his grounds and survey the
varied collection of studio memorabilia, pictures, and knickknacks
