All 24-hour party people are welcome at the first annual Vegas
Music Conference, which is headquartered at the Hard Rock Hotel and
Casino this weekend. Conference events, which began last night,
Wednesday, September 20, will continue all weekend, straight
through until early Tuesday, September 26. Official conference
party venues include The Joint and Body English at the Hard Rock,
ICE, the Empire Ballroom, and Seamless. Saturday night’s Massive
Attack show at The Joint will be a highlight, as will The Crystal
Method DJ set at ICE, also on Saturday night. For those who like to
dance in bathing suits, there will be daytime pool parties
featuring the world’s top deejays spinning at the fabled Hard Rock
Casino Pool from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday.
The brainchild of San Diego promoter and marketing consultant
Daniel Bussius, the Vegas Music Conference will have daytime panels
on such topics as protecting your music, contract negotiations for
emerging artists, and getting your music used in the soundtracks to
feature films. Recent additions to the already incredible party
lineup include a pair of Morning Ritual events at Seamless that
begin on Friday and Saturday at 8 a.m. and end at noon. Santa
Barbara favorites Donald Glaude and Charles Feelgood will be
spinning alongside such international luminaries and Winter Music
Conference headliners as Doc Martin and Erick Morillo. And it’s not
too late — with a good designated driver, Santa Barbara players
could have a full Thursday night on State St. and still hit
Seamless in time for Friday’s Morning Ritual. Rooms at the Hard
Rock are expensive and all but sold out, but the Alexis Park Resort
across the street is a non-gaming hotel with big, reasonably priced
suites still available. Find a full schedule, ticket information,
and streaming videos at the Vegas Music Conference Web site,
