This message about the death of Joseph Hill, lead singer of the
reggae band Culture, comes from S.B. local Matt Wallace.:
Joseph Hill Dies and becomes an ancestor.
Culture, featuring Joseph Hill on lead vocals, was the first
concert that I ever produced – on October 27, 1992 at The Beach
Shack in Santa Barbara. I worked so hard that I missed the show and
eventually joined the band on their tour bus for 4 days, before
having to hitchhike home from Santa Cruz to vote Bush I out in the
November Presidential election. That show eventually lead to me
tour managing Israel Vibration in 1996 and working for several
other bands after that. I would always seek out the band on the
road if our paths were crossing just to “hail up” Joseph and thank
him for his contribution to my blessings. He had an unique and
amazing voice and will be missed. –Matty Dread inna Santa
