Conscious Business Institute
Peter Matthies of Santa Barbara believes that everyone in the
western world should be happy with their jobs. Moreover, Matthies
thinks it is possible. He fervently believes in a world in which
the masses take pride in their labor and even the largest, most
powerful corporations are warm and inspirational places for
employees to work throughout their lives.
Earlier this year Matthies established the Conscious Business
Institute to advertise these beliefs and to promote personal
fulfillment, authenticity, and truth-telling in the corporate
workplace. “I’m trying to encourage business leaders to become
conscious of what impact they have on the environment,” said
Matthies. “I want to make them think about what resources they’re
using, how they’re affecting society, and how their employees feel
about it.” To evaluate the state of a business, Matthies visits the
workplace and asks the bosses as well as their employees a
repertoire of questions. Matthies has consulted scores of companies
around the world in this manner, and he reported strikingly similar
findings. “Basically, 90 percent of all people have emotionally
checked out of their jobs.” On April 5 at the Karpeles Manuscript
Library, Matthies will give a free evening conversation detailing
his beliefs and his mission to boost the spirits of workers all
across the globe. “We’re going to be talking about people’s desires
on a personal level, but we’ll address it in the context of the
workplace since that’s where people spend so much of their time
today.”
Alongside Matthies will be the renowned spiritual channeler
Jennie Marlow from Booneville, California. Marlow will take
questions from the audience and in turn relay these queries to her
spirit guides who will give their advice for business owners and
workers who are seeking a new paradigm for how business is done.
“We’re not changing the world,” conceded Matthies. “We’re just
saying we can either do business the old way where everyone is
greed-driven and scared, or we can do business the new way, where
people are doing what they love. That’s when people are real, when
the sparks fly. I get a kick out of seeing it happen.”
