Ray, great article. I rode horses on top of Mono debris dam a long time ago and was just shocked when I realized that I was 30 feet above the creek. That's when you realize how much sediment comes down the creek. I don't see any easy solution. T W Baker

Once again, great job, Ray Ford. With your great reporting we would be lost in the dark. No other scource of information on this fire is as good as yours. Keep it up!

On Six Weeks and Burning

Ray, good work on the fire reporting and the aftermath of the fire damage. It's too bad that there isn't a program to burn out parts of the brush on an annual basis. That would lessen the impact on a human caused event. My wife and I are very sadden to know that our backcountry will not look the same in our lifetimes.

Mr. Ford's writing is by far the best on the Zaca fire situation. Perhaps it is because he has been on the ground in many of the places now being burnt. Please continue to report on the fire and keep up the good work.
