Read 7/28 article by David Samuels in the New Yorker Magazine on pot in California; very interesting read and nothing to do with immigration. But it seems to me that the capitalist a.k.a. "republican" society we live in now reflects the truth of the matter; we want it now and we want it cheap, no matter what the human cost. Go China!

On Sheriff Clears $87 Million in Pot from Los Padres

His presence is extraordinary. His words powerful. His ability to conduct a broad yet personal conversation with "us" was incredible. A woman fainted in the audience, from heat, and Barack helped her from the stage, waiting for her to be cared for before continuing his oration.
He has the capacity to care as a human, and yet fight the nasty fight of political combat.

I have trepidation on the Iraq thing.
I think that its wrong to counter terrorism with more terrorism and that it could have been handled with more intelligence and should be handled now and in the future by an intelligent leader.
I admit I'm not in the "pull out now" contingency, mainly out of fear. I think that tactically it would make vulnerable our nation.
I also know that fear wears us down like water makes the canyon deep,
and that fear of terrorism is like a sandstorm that erodes us as a nation.
I am assured that if Barack Obama is the leader of this country it will be done in such a way that my fears will subside.
He is exactly the leader we need to safely and sanely save our future from war, fear and corruption.
And while he's at it, he can make health care work, help educate all of us, and lift the burden of debt from our children.

I trust him. I trust he will initiate and finish all the pledges he makes to us and the world.
The promises campaigners make have many problems attached to them, but unlike all others before him and now, I know that he is the person who can carry them out.
And he will do that honestly, make some mistakes as we all do, have the integity to learn from it, correct as needed and be straight with us all.

If, or when he becomes my president, the world will sigh with relief, and all Americans can become proud again. That deep sense of unified identity can be ours.
