For fun, do a search online of "Danielle Steel Hedge" to read about the attack on her gargantuan 20' hedge in San Francisco. Gives our hedge wars some perspective!

PLEASE leave the East Beach Grill alone!! It's a nice, laid back, easily accessible, and affordable place for students, locals and tourists to get a nice meal at the beach. Not everything has to be a high end monstrosity.

It's not a private medical matter when blood is all over the street and a business. Rather, it's very much a PUBLIC health matter. At some point, the plethora of homeless people in town, many of whom are in poor health mentally and physically, will catch up with us.

Needless to say, it's a HUGE deal that a boat can land undetected on the shore at a U.S. military base. There's probably little to stop terrorists from breaching a nuclear facility, either. They not only landed, they unloaded a ton of drugs, then moseyed on their way. To...somewhere in our community. Pretty scary.I wonder if anyone will be held accountable. Also, grammar note: the horses were not deployed; officers on horseback were deployed, or mounted security was deployed. Riderless horses grazing don't do much for security.

Legendary...The opportunity for a teachable moment has been squandered? Are you serious? Since when does someone in the public eye have an obligation to make their crisis a lesson for others, immediately or ever? Gosh, we've become so enamored with everyone airing all things private, we can't respect a family dealing with an intimate, possibly life-threatening time for one of its members without demanding real time tweets and Facebook updates, and a new bracelet, public awareness campaign and non-profit. Take a breath folks, it's been 24 hours!

Oh man. I imagine this maybe happens a lot more than we think. Single mom can't afford child care, thinks it is safe in a quiet neighborhood where she can see the car from the house where she is working...doesn't think a 2-year old can get loose, and is supposed to be sleeping. Or, the baby was crying and she had to get it away from house?Real sickening, no matter what the reasons.

It sounds pleasant and creative, but it's hard to imagine young punks who join gangs sitting around and feeling their way to being law-abiding. Do we really need another program in Santa Barbara? Seems like we are always getting programs for homeless and mentally ill people, and we have more than ever. The use of the word "sententious" is funny. How many people even know what that is?The adjective name idea is a little too much like the gang names they already give each other.Oh well, everyone is entitled to their idealistic thinking, as long as I have a choice on whether to pay for it.

Seriously, only a tiny fraction of smugglers caught so far are even prosecuted, and the two who were got less than a year?? Imagine what that was cut down to with overcrowding. And then are they escorted to the border, so they can find a boat and start right back up?
