Wow! I remembering hear the same thing regarding gangs back when the LA PD was putting their Gang Injunction into action after a string of Drive-by's left some 46 people in the hospital and four dead including a 3 year old girl shot and killed in her bedroom as she slept; in one night. I guess when the body count climbs to the hundreds and with most of the victims tourists who are buying up the trinkets and baubles of Santa Barbara name-brands, then an over all gang injunction will really go into effect but how many locals will have to die first?

I got one for you, I use to visit relatives in Michigan during the Summer seasons and knew if I wanted to save a buck to travel light with only the essentials. I packed a small, light-weight carry-on with a days worth of clothing, toiletries, and important papers and reading material; the rest I shipped via Fed Ex to the relative I would be staying with the most. On the return was the same (often having cleaned clothes done before I left), all souvenirs and trinkets of my travels and destinations were sent home ahead of me via UPS (Bulk Shipping) and the same as when I left, I returned in kind. Saved me more shipping things home ahead than lugging them through an Airport and paying out the nose in added fees.

"majority of the extensive damage occurred in the kitchen area", sounds as though someone failed to clean the Grease Traps and screens and that (as always when not cleaned weekly) was probably the cause of the fire.

" In addition, as many as eight minors gained entry using fake IDs or no IDs at all", may have something to do with the hold-up of permits although minor will imbibe where ever they can get their drink on but the rhetoric is pretty high in Santa Barbara regarding alcohol and minors so that may be the real reason.
