I don’t usually write letters to the editor, but this election has pushed a lot of people to do things they don’t normally do. I am writing because I voted for Trump. I am an educated, middle-class Spanish woman. I am not racist. I am not uneducated, and I am not just blindly following media. I did my research and I chose.

I did not choose Hillary because when it came down to it, I believe the main thing she pushed was “Choose me because I am a woman.” I feel she just wanted to be president to push through this barrier that has not been broken yet.

Most women I know chose Hillary mainly because she was a woman, that’s it. I, though, felt that she did not seem truthful; she seemed very ,very much the politician.

Trump may come to be a horrible, horrible decision. I hope time shows I went with the right person, but I trusted him more than Hillary. Call him what you want, but at least he is transparent. I watched his speeches, and I went back and forth. Some things were scary, other things were the media taking things out of context. He is horribly politically incorrect, but I believe it is this political incorrectness that I voted for: the brash, arrogant, make America great again political incorrectness.

I am tired of politicians. I did vote for Trump to throw a wrench at America. If you look back at clips of Hillary, she has also said racist things. She has just learned to give the people what they want to hear and learned to be a politician.

I have a lot of family who crossed the border illegally. I believe that in the old days, most people who came to this country that way needed to; they went through a lot to get here. I believe there are people who still want that, but now it has become too easy for the bad ones, drug lords and gangs, to cross over.

I am involved with and am closely watching as the town I grew up in is being taken over by violence, drugs, gangs, drive bys, and stabbings. Santa Barbara is in a rich, beautiful bubble and completely ignorant to the gang problems growing here and slightly north.

I am not happy about the status quo of our country. Something needs to change. Good or bad, Trump will change something. Hillary would have kept us going in the same direction (I believe she lives in the same Santa Barbara-like bubble mindset) and had the glory of becoming the first female president. Sorry, ladies, I am not a feminist who choses women just to stick together. It was a hard decision, this is a free country, and everyone who voted for Trump is not a white racist.
