Hey grean_helmet, sounds like you were there. Did this better prepare you to make a wiser choice? After this are you leaning to one side over the other or did this just make your mind all fuzzy. For those who want to "turn off the tube" theres a whole world of information out there, which is not an issue to be debated.

Just one month ago we read a headline "No Prison for Pregnant DUI Convict- Heather Hulsey Gets New Sentence: Five Years Probation” a drunk driver behind the wheel of the vehicle that killed Dr. Ronald Shlensky, a case of true negligence and an outright willful breaking of law and disrespect for life, Hulsey’s crime deserved a prison sentence but was given accommodation. Now we see Jim Wheeler is a respected law abiding citizen of Carpentaria in every sense, his action was totally out of desperation and something which he would not do under normal circumstances was arrested on elder abuse. A result of our nations poorly managed healthcare policy. Judge George Eskin says Wheeler "could serve life in prison". Where is the fairness in our justice system? Santa Barbara its time to raise your voices, fairness should not be a luxury.

You can suggest that the state economy needs "pumped up" but be realistic, it 's not going to happen at a time when the national economy is just as bad if not worse. The wealth of California got hit hard on Wall Street and there isn't no magic to fix it. Getting a stronger state economy is going to take some investment and strategy not just allot of talk. If you cant do a better job than what is being done than you have no place to talk and if you can than lets see it.

Arnold may not be well liked for his cuts in spending which reults in cuts of services but his priority is to spend according to funds available, he is doing his job allot better than some of his predecessors. Spending can not continue when revenues and funds are no longer available as a result of a slow economy. Many of you who complain about Arnold Schwarzenegger voted for George W. Bush not just once but twice and look at the fine result of our economy. Start putting the blame where it belongs and vote for someone who will build our economy not just continue spending money not available.

Before anyone takes a harsh look at this project and even begins to consider the drawbacks stated in the ERI, let us consider the alternative to this project and the impact made by drilling off our coast by big oil companies. There is no comparison. The unknown numbers of protected bird and bat populations which may be killed could easily be deterred with an electronic device such as a High Frequency Sonic Repeller. Let this project begin.

As a employee of the county and seeing funding restraints on the ADMHS by both state and county level brings the question. Why is a single project funded when funds are cut which can help a vast more number of citizens with the same issues at hand?

On Despite Some Opposition, Cold Spring Bridge Plan Advances

My trip to Vegas this past weekend was fun and equally exhausting as I squeezed in a concert of DJ TIESTO at the club JET in the Mirage. Waiting in the long line to get in was not near as bad as I would have thought it to be but once inside the crowd made up for it, with pushing and shoving as every one envied my space 3 feet from the front and a birds eye view to his DJ booth. I withstood the pressure of the crowd for 2 hours before giving in and giving up my space. The clouds over Vegas this weekend were a welcome as it was neither too hot nor too cold. The perfect trip all depends on what you think is perfect and make of it.

As Santa Barbara County's third largest agricultural export generating more than $200 million each year from strawberries and as vineyards mature and the export of product of local wineries start to expand they too should become a key player and a major contributor to the local economy. Align this with the Venture Toward Oil Tax and there is no reason for Santa Barbara County to be cash strapped. If your going to tax one product for exportation why not tax them all. Big business exports top grade for top dollars and its the locals that pay for it.
