Tourism is what SB does. It's a relatively clean industry. 50,000 visitors that didn't come by car. I like it!

I haven't tried Uber yet but I am very intrigued. I've had a lot of bad taxi experiences in SB over the years. Rude drivers, cars that don't seem safe, and drivers that don't know their way around town or take the long way if they think I'm a tourist. I hate that when I take a cab to or from the Airport I never know if it's going to cost $25 or $45. And I know a few women who say they are afraid to get into a taxi alone. A lot of the drivers creep them out. I don't blame them. The taxi industry in this town has gotten bad. Maybe Uber will shake things up a bit.

Personally I don't give a sh*t about pot one way or the other. But I do care about the destruction of our wild places that happen at these grow sites. And the fact that there are criminals with loaded guns living out there and guarding their plots. They have a lot to lose if they are caught.

Trader Joe's doesn't use plastic bags and everyone is fine with it. Costco doesn't use ANY bags and everyone is fine with it. Macy's and all the other dept. and clothing stores don't use the cheap fly away plastic bags and everyone is fine with it. I predict life as we know it will continue on just fine without the plastic bags that have outlived their value. And hopefully I won't be seeing them blow around the streets of downtown anymore.

I too understand the parking frustration. BUT, those of us who live in these downtown neighborhoods don't think our streets should be the parking lot for all the State St. employees either. As far as Canon Perdido St. is concerned I'm not sure what you're talking about. I've worked on W. Canon Perdido for 18 years and it's always been restricted parking. Take away the restricted parking and you will find zero places to park your car. Just like on Sundays.

So McDonald's wants to decrease the indoor lines with an outdoor line of idling cars and more traffic? I say no.

Is the Botanic Garden now referring to itself at "The Garden"? It's kind of confusing. The plans for the meadow sound beautiful! Except for the use of herbicides. I hope the meadow revival can be done without using poison there in our mountains and so close to Mission Creek.

There seems to be a lot of "trail improvement" by regular citizens going on lately. Why do people think it's their prerogative to go and "improve" the public trails. To me it's the same as some guy taking it upon himself to mow the lawn at a public park. It's not helping anyone and it's dangerous for everyone. And sorry Mr. Ford, but the Montecito Trails Foundation is one of the worst culprits.
