Right. First Greka's representative blamed excessive rains and then its own alarm company. Now Greka, which has a reputation for extraordinarily frequent oil spills and operating damaged equipment, reveals to us its evidence of "eco-terrorism"..... The evidence? Damaged equipment and frequent oil spills. As the County Supervisor aptly queried, "Were the other 398 spills also sabotage?"

I live in Mussel Shoals and spoke on problems at Greka's Rincon Island facility at Assemblyman Nava's hearing. Greka's Rincon Island employees then made a feeble attempt at retailiation by enlisting the village idiots in Mussel Shoals, a group of over-aged surfers who are given permission to jump from the Rincon pier in high surf, to intimidate me. The attempt is utterly laugable and will ultimately result in a civil lawsuit against Greka. I suppose I can stand in line in bankruptcy court behind Greka's other creditors with the resulting judgment, but money is not the point in this case.

And this ass-backwards bunch of geriatric surfer neighbors? They will all find themselves too busy gving depositions to find time to be jumping off of the pier and catching waves.

On Greka Cries Eco-Terrorism, County Beefs Up Oil Regulations

Their spokesman Mike Stoker has been singing the blues himself lately and the quotes are even better than the movie ...

"(a) It's the government's fault, they signed off on the eqipment...
(b) It's our alarm company's fault ...
(c) it's the fault of the last company who sold us the shoddy equipment ....
(d) it's no one's fault since accidents are gong to happen no matter what ....
(e) it's Pedro Nava's fault since we had to send all of our employees to the hearing to take up all the seats...
(f) it's God's fault since the rains caused the pumps to fail....
(g) its the fault of the mystery saboteur ..."
And the list goes on.

Since I spoke up at the January 4 hearing about the problems at Rincon Island the workers have provoked my neighbors into harassing me here in Mussel Shoals. Unfortunately for them, the only neighbors they could enlist are a few local idiots that they give the gate code to so they can jump off the pier during high surf. It's going to be just wonderful for the State of California when someone is injured and the State gets sued as well.

On Supes to Hear Greka Report at January 15 Meeting

He ceratinly sucked the first commenter into talking about the gang issue. Why not just give the money to space exploration, medical research, or the homeless? Fess can debate the merits of those noble issues as well, but the bottom line is that it simply costs him more money to build a youth hostel. Does anyone here believe he has any concern at all for the revenue of the other hostel in town? Or tourism in Santa Barbara, except to the extent that it affects his own income?

And whether or not anyone agrees that businesses should be forced into concessions by the Coastal Commission is likewise not the issue. He agreed to do this twenty five years ago. It is hardly believable that the public was deprived for 25 years of it's entitlement under the agreement. Fess made his money for the last quarter centruy without fulfilling his end of the deal, and now he wants to change the deal .... by talking about the gang problem???

He says "its gang-against-gang" in Santa Barbara. The only gang-against-gang problem in that part of town is which gang of white old men can make the most money off of beachfront development. You'd think that old Daniel Boone would be at a point in his life where he'd like to leave a legacy of a youth hostel that bears his name. Instead it appears to always be about money, no matter how much you already have, until the day you die.

Don't blame Reagan on this one. Blame the parents. Myself and my girlfriend found Ashley wandering around Mussel Shoals, just south of Carpinteria, in a daze just one day (I believe) before this happened. She was clearly having a psychotic episode and told us that she'd been walking all day. At one point she was walking of the freeway and the CHP told her to walk on the beach. She was sunburned and dehydrated and when she walked up to our house, she asked for a cigarette. She said she had a son, Hercules, who was 1000 years old. Rather than call police, we managed to get her name and address from her after about a half hour. We found Sandy Clary listed and called her mother. Incidentally, Ashley said that Sandy was not her mother. Sandy and a man arrived about an hour later and picked Ashley up and said that they were going to immediately have her hospitalized. Good thing because this girl was mentally like an eight year old child that anyone could have taken advantage of. We found out about this subsequent disappearance in the press. No one came back here when she went missing. No one checked. You have to wonder why.
