To quote a great Olde Sage regarding what to do in case of Nuclear War - "Bend over and Kiss your A** Goodbye."
Loved Daryl Cagle's cartoon by the way.
Hey, WAKE UP! IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!!!
Send Mr. Rodman back over with a team, let the DPRK minatures play AND WIN the game let them telecast their win on CNN BBC ABC NBC,FOX and all the rest and next week we'll be watching some other mess elsewhere and when the "N Korea Crisis" is mentioned, we'll all give a BIG YAWN and go back to watching whatever ....

Oh, so sad. Boo hoo- where can I get my "Local" news and such a great team.I agree that KTLA used to be far better than KEYT, until local politics took them off the air up here in "Paradise" Wake up! Comment by Bill Clausen is so right in that KEYT buys various news reports from various suppliers. More regional/national blurbs and reports than local.
I won't miss Joe Gehl. KEYT has only one good, reliable reporter and that is John Palminteri, and he's wise enough and been there long enough to stay away from the goings-on in the news-room. The rest of the gang are amateurish -with the exception of Tracy who also is wise enough to stay Ventura reporter.

I love the old Miramar-I love the old, original Miramar. Is there not someone-anyone-with the belief, courage, vision-and, yes, RESOURCES- who can stand up and oppose the onslaught of negativity that surrounds this? To me, the best answer would be to resurrect her in her past glory- brilliant blue roofs and all-. Surely there are enough well-to-do- people- investors, bankers, lawyers, doctors, actors,-people with connections and FUNDS who could form a coalition/group/whatever and approach the various factions-city/state/county/Montecito planning commission(s) and present a proposal. I’m convinced that if such a proposal were available such an idea could be presented to any of a dozen hotel corporations -there would be interest. The Hyatt Miramar? The Hilton Miramar? Holiday Inn Miramar? Surely there would be financing available on an equal opportunity and return basis. Or is too simple a solution for all the bickering “Big-wigs”? There are even enough people in the private sector living in Montecito who could afford to invest in this-sorry-but there are- Oprah WInfrey in the past often would assist communities by helping through connecting with various building companies like Home Depot Walmart, etc. Is that too far a stretch or too brazen an idea to approach in this instance? We’re pitching an idea/vision here.Like a poor struggling writer we’re going to the big producer, script in hand begging for a reading-a pitch. For what its worth- there it is, people- and I won’t even charge for it!

In answer to Mr. Bill Clausen - The Rick Caruso plan can be viewed at the Miramar website "Miramar by the Sea" which gives a good history and pictures of the hotel, with the plans.
It is quite different in the future vision. Re your opinion about buying a house and then someone else buys another and blocks your view- it would be nice to think that the new buyer would take that into consideration, but as we all know that doesn't always happen. The attitude all too often is "So what?" A prime example of that happen constantly in Sydney, Australia where people on the lower north shore of the harbour are being built out, with high rises blocking all views.
As they say "Stuff happens" All we can hope for is that "The Powers that Be" have level heads and can oppose such.

On Caruso's Bait and Switch

I've enjoyed reading the opinions and proposals regarding THE MIRAMAR. It's really a shameful state that the "POWERS THAT BE" in this so-called "PARADISE" can't get their noses out of their respective ##### and look at what a mess they have created by not intervening or having the cojones to stand up and be counted. Remember what THE MIRAMAR was - and look at the miserable state she is presently- its like Iraq- oh sorry it's "Montecito" I know a director who's looking for a location to film a war movie. Maybe SB/Montecito could make money from that!??Look, I'm sorry- we all need cool heads here. What we had there was a wonderful old place- and given Curuso's millions and grandiose ideas-why not get the "Old" girl back like she was?

Hey- it's A MOVIE!! It's NOT REAL!!! The character may have been written that way in the SCRIPT. Or maybe one day while shooting the scene, the actor (oops, the "ACTRESS") may have decided she needed to do something with her hands, or characteristically thought by smoking, it would add depth of character to the part. Maybe the director decided to add that bit of "business", or maybe-just maybe- they all sat around before the shoot and said,"Hey, here's an idea-why don't you SMOKE in that scene and there's sure to be someone out there in Santa Barbara who has nothing better to do than complain when they see the movie."
