Clausen,
Since you posted a novel in response to my post which was directed at other posters, I find this statement funny:"Revisionist is a person I've never met, and you'll have to take my word for it that we *are* two different people." I have my doubts. Since you are speaking for the nativist trolls, please explain to me why when someone lables themselves a Mexican American they get responses like "Wow, misandry and reconquista nationalism in one letter" or "If you want to be Mexican, move to Mexico."? Please kind sir, show me where in this letter that Ms. Uribe said that she wanted to a "Mexican" or that she supported the nativist boogy man theme of reconquista? If you cannot, you and your fellow travelers... errrr scockpuppets look like racist fools.

People are free to label themselves as they see fit. That is the American way. Do you nativist fools have a problem with the Knights of Columbus, the Irish American Society or the DAR? If not, then why do you start foaming at the mouth with jibberish about reconquista nationalism when a proud Mexican American states her opinion? Have you told a proud hibernian to move back to Ireland? If you did that in Boston you might get your ass handed to you. It is sad to see that racism is alive and well in Santa Barbara and in the comments section of the Independant.

Being a taxi driver you should be careful about throwing stones about "theft" because you live in a glass house. Thirty five dollars for a five mile fare from the airport. Are you serious? Next time go around the block instead of pulling a Kojack u turn and you will not get a ticket. I for one am glad that the SBPD saw you and cited you. The taxi drivers I see in this town drive in a very unsafe manner with only a casual regard for the vehicle code. It is about time they started getting busted.

It is sad to see the ignorance in many of these posts. If anyone posts that La Raza or Pueblo are "Latino supremacist groups" they are either trolling or they have a very loose connection to reality.. The other canard that I see from the nativist trollers is that the local police should do more about illegal aliens. News flash, immigration is a Federal responsibility. Anyone who thinks that Chief Sanchez does not cooperate with the ICE, does not know a thing about the real situation and does not even take the time to read the news. Some in Santa Barbara cannot get over the fact that a Latino is Chief and he is doing a great job. Lose your racist ideas, the future is here either climb on or get out of the way.

This is getting really crazy. A Texas carpetbagger that went to SBHS thirty years ago reckons that he is a local. That same Texan thinks that there is something wrong with a Russian, who has owned a home in Montecito longer than the Texan, donating money to Cush's campaign. Based on the Texan's past donations to the Guliani and Romney campaigns, it is clear that he is very good at picking a loser. All hat no cattle.

Native yes, but not a resident. I bet he is not registered to vote in California. He most likely keeps his "offficial residence" in Texas so as to avoid paying state income tax. He is a local only when he wants to dump 1/4 million into an election that he probably cannot vote in. That qualifies him as a "Texas developer and part-time Santa Barbaran". Barney was right on the money. One cannot be a SB local and a Texan at the same time. He is a guy who was born here, made lots of money and is a tourist that happens to own a home in Montecito.

Who said anything about racism? I was looking for historical accuracy. After the Mexican American War, the people living in the former Mexican territories were offerd US citizenship. Almost all of them took US citizenship, hence they should be included in the group called Americans. Californio is a term for someone living in California ( and their decendants) before the US took over. It simply means Californian in Spanish.

Oh noes its da jooos! Seriously, why does the tinfoil crowd always end up with Jews in their twisted theories? Israel, which is different than "the Jews", had nothing to gain from 9/11 so why would you make that connection?

Next time, read the signs before you park. Thank you for the donation to the city and the local economy.

No you would still be classified as a troll in any other country. You stated "Wow, misandry and reconquista nationalism in one letter." That post had nothing to do with the letter by Ms. Uribe. That was clearly a false statement designed to upset readers of this thread. That is a textbook troll post. There is no "reconquista" movement. It exists only in the paranoid fantasy world that delusional nativists like you live.
